Developing for Banno Content

Banno Content contains a system for rendering pages server-side, by constructing template partials into page templates that can be selected in Banno Content when creating a page.

To access these templates, select Settings within the Content navigation, and then select Templates. This opens a list of recent template uploads.

Note: Not all institutions have access to developer tools. For information about this feature or your implementation, contact your implementation coordinator or support representative.

Assets that make up a site may include:

  • HTML template partials written in mustache
  • CSS
  • JavaScript™
  • Images
  • Fonts
  • And more
  • Template.zip archive
    All the files you want to serve on your site can be provided to the CMS by creating a .zip archive and uploading through the Templates interface within Banno Content.
  • Templates
    The page templates that you create must be placed in the templates directory.
  • Mustache
    Mustache is a logic-less template language we use to construct template partials so you can reuse content, reference page variables, create content areas, place forms, and place dynamic ad areas.

    You can use the following syntax to place a content area in a template.
  • Banno elements
    Banno Content provides reusable elements to make it easy to connect with CMS functionality. Each Banno element is namespaced with banno:. These placeholder elements are never rendered directly.
  • Uploading your .zip file
    In Banno Content, you can upload a .zip file that contains templates you constructed.
