Embracing the Seasons: A Look Ahead at Jack Henry's Upcoming Events

I've come to the conclusion that while August is typically saved for back to school shopping and related shenanigans, retailers have tried to sneak in Halloween merchandise to my dismay. Not a lot, but enough to evoke the memory of pumpkin spice everything, fall leaves, and the sense that hoodie season is almost here. Not that I’m complaining – my hoodie game is strong – but I'm just baffled by the fact that I can now secure something for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas simultaneously at this time of year. Winter is coming…or should I say fall? Nonetheless, we've got some time so these retailers need to stay calm!

That said, in the spirit of knowing Starbucks is now offering that seasonal treat of pumpkin spice, let us also look into the not too distant future at Jack Henry. Don’t forget to mark your calendars because Jack Henry Connect is taking place October 7-10 in sunny Phoenix, Arizona and the first ever Jack Henry Developer Conference is slated for November 20 in Fort Worth, Texas. Don't miss these two monumental conferences where you can discover upcoming trends, collaborate with peers, and discuss the future!

I invite you to grab that seasonal beverage and enjoy this month's statement encapsulating the hard work being done daily to enrich the digital experience.

Banno Admin status page

We’re thrilled to announce that Banno’s Status page is now accessible directly within Banno Admin! While we aim for 100% uptime, any updates to system performance on status.banno.com will now also be reflected in the Admin Status page.

You can find the Status page by selecting the additional menu items at the bottom of the left-hand menu in Banno Admin. No additional user entitlements are needed – just make sure your team has access to the site. Rest assured, our teams will keep both status pages updated whenever necessary. We’ve also prepared documentation with FAQs that you can share with your teams.

Updates to EULA and privacy statement

Heads up! We’re making some updates to the Digital Terms of Use for the Banno platform. As we mentioned last year, we will review the most current version of the Digital Terms of Use on annual basis for the need for potential updates. After a thorough review, we made revisions and improvements to make the Digital Terms of Use more consumer-friendly. With the last updates released in December 2023, we are targeting January 2025 for the updated release.

We understand the importance of these documents to your operations and the need for adequate review time. Rest assured, all financial institutions will have a minimum of 60 days to review the changes which will include an outline of the material changes from the current Digital Terms of Use.

To minimize separate updates and prompts to end users for your digital banking terms and the upcoming release of the Digital Terms of Use, we recommend that you prepare any necessary adjustments to your own terms in advance. By aligning the release of your updates with our updates, you can help provide a seamless experience for your users.

Thank you for your cooperation and attention to this matter. We will provide further details and a detailed list of changes as the update approaches.

View employee data permission

How many times have you had to open a support case to either grant or remove the ability for an employee to view other employee data? Soon, this power will be all yours! We’re currently testing a new permission, which you’ll soon see on the Users & Groups screen in People. Once this permission rolls out, an authorized admin can create a new group, assign the View employee data permission (and any others you want the group to have), and then add the appropriate employees whenever you need. Voilà! No need to open another support case! It's also worth noting that this View employee data permission isn’t tied to either the View Everything or Manage Everything permissions – giving you a bit more flexibility.

Important note! 🗒️

We’ll continue to enforce the legacy mechanism to allow you plenty of time to add all necessary users to a new group with the View employee data permission… or to add this permission to existing groups.

Keep an eye out for further communication on this as we finalize testing and make this small but mighty permission available.

Jack Henry Developer Conference

Registration is now open for the first-ever Jack Henry Developer Conference at the Will Rogers Memorial Auditorium in Fort Worth, Texas on Wednesday, November 20, 2024.

How does this differ from JH Connect? The JH Connect audience is focused on 'leadership at a financial institution,' while the Jack Henry Developer Conference will be geared toward developers. This means that at the JH Developer Conference, we’ll be offering sessions that are more technical in nature.

Is this open to Banks? Credit Unions? Fintechs? Consultants? Vendors? Yes! Assuming they're looking for technical content, i.e. the kind they would find on JackHenry.Dev. Make sure to register now to get your ticket!

Wire templates for credit unions

Coming soon to credit union business users is the ability to create and manage wire templates. This feature will be available on both our Online and Mobile platforms.

As long as your financial institution is configured for wires, business users with the Create wire templates and Edit wire templates entitlements can engage with wire templates feature from any device. Business users will see the Templates tab on the Wires dashboard with the ability to save new wires as a template at creation, along with editing or deleting templates, and initiating a single one-time wire.

No action or support case is needed—just keep an eye out for more updates coming your way soon!

🎗️Forget-me-nots

Here are a few things to remember this month.

New brand protection integrations

Last month, we introduced two new native integrations, Allure Security and PhishLabs, that help protect your brand and safeguard your users against phishing threats. These integrations provide robust brand protection by defending against look-alike phishing sites that misuse your digital assets.

To enable these integrations, ensure your financial institution is contracted and onboarded with either Allure Security or PhishLabs. Once onboarded, you can request the integration setup through the For Clients portal, and we’ll take care of the rest.

Toolkit corner: Activating a plugin’s expanded view

Have you ever wondered how various Banno apps handle the transition of a plugin’s card face to its expanded view?

We’ve heard your questions, and we’ve updated the Designing and Developing Plugins guide with animations to show how action buttons and the Plugin Bridge handle that kind of navigation across Banno Online, Banno Mobile (Android), and Banno Mobile (iOS).

Account takeover mitigation

We’ve been hard at work on our first pass at account takeover mitigation built natively within the Banno platform, and we’re nearly ready for rollout! This feature targets the most consistent factor in account takeover fraud – new devices. When active, all newly registered devices will be unable to perform high risk actions until manually unblocked by your employees who have been granted Manage security settings permissions.

Naturally, this setting is impactful to legitimate users – both existing and net new accountholders. With direct control to activate and deactivate the feature in People (also only for users with the Manage security setting), your authorized personnel will be empowered to stop ongoing attacks immediately and then minimize friction again once you're confident the elevated fraud activity has subsided. When ready, this functionality will be yours to control. Additionally, we're working on a third setting which we believe you'll be able to leave active, which will continue to slow down fraud while minimizing friction for net-new accountholders.

We’ll be communicating again as we prepare to roll this out with more documentation as well as additional insight on future initiatives to minimize the friction while maintaining increased security.

Mobile push notification update

Heads up! Toward the end of this calendar year, we’re updating how we send push notifications in Banno Mobile. When this change is released, older versions of Banno Mobile will no longer receive push notifications, so it will be critical to ensure that your institution is set up to receive the latest versions of Mobile.

Rest assured, you're in capable hands. We'll be communicating more specific time frames and app versions in coming statements, as well as more information on the steps you can take to be fully prepared. Keep your eyes peeled for further updates—for now, no action is required on your part.

New feature • JHA Treasury Management™

Edit Wire functionality

You asked, we listened! Now, eligible users will be able to edit wire transfers that are in a Canceled or Pending status—no more duplicate wire creation or superfluous wires in the mix.

With the shiny new Edit button, users will be able to modify the pre-populated wire data (except for beneficiary info) and re-submit for approval. It's that simple! Mark your calendars, because this feature will be released for all Treasury banks on Monday, September 9. No further action is required.

Intermediary institution section update in Wires

Banno business users recently saw an update to the Wires interface for Intermediary institutions. We revised the wires process – on both SilverLake & CIF 20/20 banks – to better align with the functionality within Cash Management SSO. The Banno app no longer supports wires that require an intermediary financial institution; therefore, end users won’t see the Intermediary institution field when creating a wire. End users can still see and transmit previously created wires that involved an intermediary; however, if a user needs to edit this wire or create a new one with Intermediary information, they must do so in Cash Management SSO.

External application permissions for business administrators

External applications have presented a difficult challenge for our business customers. We’ve heard questions come up such as, “how can your team members configure the correct applications when they may not know all the employees at each business?” Last year we delivered a solution to these challenges for our credit union business customers, and now we’re ready for banks to enjoy the same feature! Now you can put the decision of which applications to enable in the hands of the businesses themselves. The user profile in User management has been expanded to include an area for turning the display of external applications on and off for each user.

Important prep!

As part of this feature, banks may need to do some housekeeping. Check out this Knowledge Base article for the details on what you may need to do.

This feature will be released incrementally as part of an ongoing rollout. If you don’t see the Additional applications section in User management yet, don’t fret. That just means the feature has not yet been released to your institution. Keep checking back as the feature will show automatically once it is ready.

Coming soon • Banno People™

Deep link support in messages

An exciting new feature is on the way! Soon, you’ll be able to use deep links in Messages sent from Banno People. These links will allow you to guide users directly to specific in-app features or single sign-on options, transforming your messages into actionable opportunities that boost user engagement and adoption.

Stay tuned—we’ll be sharing links to documentation and details on the release timing very soon!

Heads up • Digital Banking Platform™ Knowledge Base

Documentation updates

This week we launched a significant navigation overhaul for the Knowledge Base! The new information architecture brings the site more in line with how products and features are organized on banno.com, lending to an ever-more cohesive experience when reviewing information on these two complementary Digital Banking resources.

You’ll also notice that – where appropriate – we’ve leveraged expandable sections to support grouping closely related topics together on landing pages without causing information overload from presenting so much information on a single page. As your friendly neighborhood writer here knows all too well, not many folks enjoy scanning for details within a wall of words!

Stay tuned for additional improvements to the Knowledge Base in the coming months, as this navigation redesign paves the way for some exciting projects our Product Go-to-Market team has slated. While you’re cruising the new digs, be sure to review our latest documentation updates, too!
