Settings user interface improvement

As you know, we’ve continued updating our design within Banno Online. And just on the heels of that redesign, we decided to focus on the design and user experience for the settings area of the app. Our goal in this was to help users find the various controls easier and with fewer clicks. While there’s no new functionality or features, we hope this helps make completing tasks quicker and more intuitive for users. This design enhancement will appear to all Banno Online customers later this month.

Remove profile photo

Users of Banno People will now have access to remove a profile photo from a user’s account by locating their profile and selecting "remove" from the photo. This requires the “Manage everything” permission in Banno Settings. Additionally, anyone with “Edit user” privileges in Banno Settings can remove a photo from another Banno user. These photo deleting enhancements will ship this month.

Zelle® is here

People love the convenience of being able to send money right then and right there–the digital way. Today with Fintech apps like Venmo, PayPal, and Square storming the scene, funds that used to be yours are now being tied up outside your financial institution. The good news? Zelle® will allow you to offer your users the ability to make near real-time payments to friends and family right from your banking app. Our Zelle® integration is available for customers on Silverlake and requires a contract and implementation with the JHA PayCenter. Oh, and Episys is coming soon! If you'd like to learn more or get started, reach out to your account executive.

Vendor change - Push notifications

This month, we switched to a new push notification provider. There has been no change to functionality. However, users who haven’t updated their app to version 2.20 by the end of August will stop receiving push notifications.

If your financial institution does not have the latest app versions in app stores, now is the time to make sure all of your agreements are accepted and up-to-date. If they are not, your users will stop receiving push notifications on September 1, 2020.

Dark mode update

We’re excited to launch a heavily requested feature from iOS users everywhere known as Dark Mode. Dark Mode for iOS offers a darker background, and maybe even brooding look on a familiar experience. It is designed to reduce eye strain and hopefully help you avoid those awkward glances when your phone lights up a room.

With this iOS release, all of our apps now support dark mode. However, we are still in the process of creating dark themes for all our financial institutions. We're hard at work on these theme updates, and will release them to everyone soon.

Session timeout warning

Tired of getting booted out of the platform when you're in the middle of something? Us too. Users of Banno Assets, History, People, Reports, Settings, and Support will now be prompted after 30 minutes of inactivity to extend their session. Additionally, our security reauthentication window has also been extended from two hours to eight. This means after eight hours of being logged in, users will be prompted to save their work and reauthenticate by signing back in with their credentials. This enhancement will ship later this month and requires no configuration.

Two new PowerOns for Credit Unions

Credit Union customers, we’re excited to share that we have two new PowerOns headed your way. Open a subshare gives your existing members the opportunity to open new shares whenever it’s convenient for them. Different types of shares include: Certificate of Deposit, Checking, Club, Savings, and Money Market to name a few. They can also add new or existing shareholders, and quickly transfer funds to their newly created share.

Overdraft Opt-In / Out PowerOn. This new PowerOn helps your members out when they’re short on funds by giving them the ability to enroll or unenroll in overdraft fees. And like all of our PowerOns, it’s highly customizable to fit your needs. Both of these PowerOns will be available soon - contact our support team if you would like to get started as soon as they are available.

Removing and editing messages in conversations

We’ve all experienced sending a message to the wrong person, clicking send and then realizing we’ve missed a typo, or even attaching the wrong file to an email. Whoops! Well, Conversations is no different, and is actually an even more critical issue since it is within a secure and sensitive channel. To help mitigate this potential problem for you, we’ve added the ability to remove messages and attachments, as well as edit messages and notes sent within Conversations. Fear not though! While removals and edits will not appear to your customers, they will always be maintained in an audit trail. These features are live today for all financial institutions with Conversations enabled.

Same day support for travel notices

Remember the days of traveling?! For Silverlake financial institutions using travel notices, users of Banno Online can now submit a travel notification on their day of travel–and we’ve also removed that silly 99-day travel restriction, because #travelgoals. Even better news, iOS and Android are coming next month too!

If you would like to offer travel notices to your customers, please contact support.

If you have questions about anything you have read here, please contact support.

Release notes are posted in the ForClients portal in advance of mobile releases and contain a rollup of all client-side changes made to Banno within the period.
